My Bathroom is Finally Cleaned

Rotating between working days (7am-3pm) and nights (11pm-7am) is killing me. My body is so messed up and when I am on my night rotation I can't do anything besides eat, sleep and shower...so my husband cleaned the bathroom and here are a few pictures!

Before

This is what our bathroom looked like when we bought the house...within the first month or two we removed the shower doors and replaced it with a rod & curtain we already own and I ripped down the top layer of the fishy wallpaper border. When I say I only removed the top layer of the wallpaper I mean for the 1-1/2 years there has been lots of visible wallpaper glue on our walls. It was just lovely.

After

New sink fixture ($34), and new light fixture ($34).

A much needed towel rack.

DIY chalkboard/towel hook project. Both function and fun. For a long time I have been wanting a space to write bible verses, so I am encouraged to memorize more scripture and this was the perfect spot.

New hardware for the vanity- we already had the handle from when we replaced the hardware in the kitchen, and the knobs were bought at target for less than $20.

And the BIGGEST change is that we replaced the fan ($120). Our old one was super, SUPER loud. It was awful not only because it didn't work well, but also because if one of us were to shower when the other was sleeping we would be woken up instantly. It was a pain in the butt to replace, and Jared ended up cutting a big hole in the ceiling which had to be drywalled...but it was totally worth it. The other day I was in the shower I thought I had forgotten to turn the fan on because our new fan is so quiet I couldn't hear it while the water was running.

It's hard to capture the true color that we painted the bathroom, but it's grey. I am on a mission to paint every wall in my house, and I knew I wanted to make sure one room was grey...and this was the perfect place to do it because there is a little grey in the tile on the walls, and it actually seems to have brighten up the small space.

That's it! Nothing too crazy, but it has made a world of difference. Before, Jared and I both couldn't set foot in the bathroom without thinking about how much we hated it. Now, all the imperfections have been camouflaged. It has become a more tranquil and pleasant space...and waiting a couple of years for a full remodel doesn't seem so bad.

Next Project

We are going to paint a couple more chairs we bought off Craigslist ($30) for our dining room.
