Pregnancy: Week #6

Aside from my ginormously, sore boobs I really haven't felt pregnant this week. I've maybe felt a little more tired than usual, but it's hard for me to say whether or not it is exclusively pregnancy related or because:

1. I am always tired,
2. I worked 56 hours in five days, and
3. I was on night shift

I guess I should really consider myself lucky that I haven't had to deal with morning sickness
  • How far along? 6 weeks (March 2nd)

  • How big is the baby? The size of a lentil

  • Weight gain/loss? Maybe 1 pound but it's hard to say because my weight usually fluctuates 2-5 pounds.

  • Maternity clothes? Not yet

  • Sleep? I seem to be waking up earlier than I want to and unable to go back to sleep. I'm tired, enjoy taking naps and going to bed early.

  • Best moment last week? I think Jared is getting more excited. He says goodnight to the baby most nights and he even read to it once :) He also told me for the first time he was really excited to be a dad. I think we have both been trying to reserve our excitement because we know it is still really early...but it's getting harder not to think about the future!

  • Symptoms? My boobs seem to be getting bigger, and I can't lounge around the house without wearing a bra anymore otherwise they become very sore. At baseline I am always tired, but it seems like I can't make it through the day without taking a nap anymore. Otherwise, I really haven't felt pregnant...which actually made me worry a little this week, but I guess I should just be thankful that I haven't had to deal with morning sickness at this point.

  • Food cravings/aversions? I'm craving vegetables, specifically celery...and orange juice. I could drink orange juice all.day.long. I also am not really into cooking lately. I will make anything that is really easy, and have recently fallen in love with my crockpot. The only food that I actually spit out of my mouth this week was almonds, but the truth is, I have never liked this particular brand of almonds...but I could at least usually tolerate them.

  • Exercise: I'm having a hard time finding the energy to exercise. I'm still working out with a trainer twice a week and we have been doing arms one day and legs the next, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to keep doing that. When I do my leg workouts my heart rate gets up super high and I feel like I am going to pass out.

  • Gender? We don't know! Jared keeps calling the baby Henry (which is the name we picked out years ago to refer to our future child) and he says it is going to be a boy...but I am hoping for a girl. It's not that I wouldn't be happy with a boy, but I would just prefer to have a girl first because I like to think that girls are more gentle in nature (at least when they are younger) and I don't know if I can handle a mini-Jared based on how I imagine he and his brothers were when they were little.

  • Belly button? It's an innie, and I can't imagine it will be changing any time soon.

  • What are you looking forward to this week? Possibly telling our parents...we haven't really decided when we are going to do this yet. I was going to wait until after our first appointment, but that isn't until March 23rd and unfortunately I have basically had to tell everyone at work (more on that another time), so I feel really bad that we haven't told our parents yet.

  • What I miss? Nothing really...

  • Movement? It's too early

  • Stretch marks? Jared said I was getting stretch marks on my boobs...but I kindly reminded him what he was referring to as a stretch mark was actually just a scar from a surgery I had.

  • Labor signs? None

  • Milestones? According to BabyCenter baby SJ's nose, ears and mouth are starting to form! We should also be able to detect a heartbeat, which I think is pretty exciting!
